There are a lot of people who will make use of some of the Internet tools like instant messaging and chat rooms. They can always be good fun when it comes to the times where work is slow or when you are just bored at home. However, you need to make sure that you take the opportunity to learn how you can use these tools safely.

First, you will want to make sure that you do not give out any information that may harm you. This means that you don't want to give someone your full name or a general idea of where you may live. Secondly, you have to approach everyone like they are a predator. You have to constantly be on your toes and never let your guard down. It is very important that you keep your child's relationship with you open. You don't want to give them any reason that may make them want to run to others for support and help. You don't want to have anyone feel vulnerable. You need to make sure that you take into consideration that your child needs you and there are going to be times that you need to listen. This will make them less likely to go online and be a victim of a predator.
